Cornelie Jochems was born in Wassenaar, The Netherlands. After graduating from the Free Art Academy in Den Haag, she studied under Roman Opalka and Guenther Uecker at the International Kokoschka Academy in Salzburg, Austria, where she was nominated for the Prix de Rome. Her interest in light and sound led her to study with video pioneer Nan Hoover in The Netherlands and Austria. Light and movement continue to play a prominent role in her work. Since 2004, she has worked and exhibited with the Suzanne Biederberg Gallery, apart from exhibiting in London, Essen, Den Haag, and Hallein, Austria. Her work is to be found in national and international public and private collections.
