KEVIN POWER: ALL TIME IS NOW TIME

Kevin Power is never shy to pursue new artistic directions. All Time Is Now Time, his fourth solo exhibition in our gallery consists of a varied and exciting installation. The viewer is greeted by a group of life-size sculptures, “Office Gurls”, which he created for this year’s Salon del Mobile design fair in Milan. There they caused a sensation at the Hans Lensvelt Pavilion, curated by Maarten Spruijt. We are also proud to announce the launch of Power's new collection of the Dali Lamas Pajamas.” Dali is of course the artist who turns the ordinary into the extraordinary, and I think it’s a beautiful way of looking at life”. Begun in 2015, this art project involves making wearable garments, each piece is handmade, of high quality textile, unique and with a handwritten blessing sewn in. Since 2016 they are incorporated into the advanced collection of the BLESS fashion brand. A varied body of Power’s mixed media works on paper rounds out the exhibition. Kevin Power studied philosophy/literature at the UCD Ireland and and from 1994 to 1999 art and fashion at the Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam. For the past 20 years he has designed and produced artwork, and made collections for local and international designers, for flagship stores and showrooms, and has collaborated with art directors on museum exhibitions, photo shoots, music festivals. Guest Artist Kevin Pieterse is currently studying Scenography at the University of Amsterdam. His field of interest is the potential of humanity, to discover the links which unite people; the intimate moments of contact. For this exhibition, he has made a number of tactile textile figures and faces (Future Friends), housed together in a sheltered container, along with a sound piece of his very personal poetry which can be heard on a loop on available headphones. This presentation offers an opportunity to enter the unique world of Pieterse, on his voyage of self-discovery. All Time Is Now Time. Bless your contradictions. May they be fierce!
